Programs & Outreach: Evangelism and Missions

Evangelism and missions conducted by Ebenezer UCC is lead by a group of dedicated individuals that form the Evangelism and Missions Committee. They meet on a quarterly and an as needed basis.

Evangelism and Missions Committee Members

  • Janice Metzger

Each year, the committee recommends to Consistory the specific missions Ebenezer UCC should support.

Ebenezer's Closet
The Closet provides free clothing to members of the church and the community. It is open the second Thursday of the month as well as the second Saturday. A minimum of six families are served each time the closet is open. In 2016, our focus is to increase awareness in the larger community of the availability of Ebenezer's Closet . Contact Lucille Snyder through the Church office at or 610-298-8000 to volunteer to help with this project.

Food Pantry
Ebenezer UCC partners with churches, community groups, individuals, and Second Harvest Food Bank of the Lehigh Valley to provide food twice a month for those in need at the food pantry at the former one-room school house Christ's Church at Lowhill.

Besides Christ's Church at Lowhill and Ebenezer UCC, other local churches involved in the food pantry are:

Eligible households receive approximately three to four days worth of food when they come to the food pantry. We receive food in a partnership with Second Harvest of the Lehigh Valley, but we also heavily rely on donations from individuals, member churches, and local businesses.

Volunteers of the food pantry come from the churches and communities in Lowhill, Heidelberg, Weisenberg and Lynn Townships. They help to achieve the mission of the food pantry by:

  • Purchasing food
  • Unloading the delivered food
  • Stocking the shelves with the donated food
  • Serving the families that come to us for food

The Food Bank's hours for serving the families are:

  • The first Saturday of the month from 9 am – 12 noon.
  • The third Thursday of the month from 4 pm – 7 pm.

If you wish to volunteer, please contact the Ebenezer UCC church office at or 610-298-8000 You may also call the food pantry directly at 610-298-2054..
